"Arihant Capital Markets Ltd (Arihant), a diversified financial services company has entered the list of 200 "Best Under a Billion" companies from the Asia-Pacific region, as per data compiled by Forbes magazine for the year 2011.
Only 35 esteemed Indian companies have featured in this year's 'Best Under a Billion' list and Arihant is proud to be one of them. Among the 200 companies, Chinese and Hong Kong companies stole the limelight with 65 companies on the list having exceptional sales and earnings growth. India has the second highest number at 35, followed by Taiwan (25) and South Korea (16).
Forbes' selection of the Best Under A Billion begins with a search for companies from an initial field of over 15,000 Asia-Pacific companies, that show both sales and earnings growth. To qualify they must have annual revenue between $5 million and $1 billion and be publicly traded for at least a year.
Forbes Asia editor Tim Ferguson said: "Essentially these are our picks of the companies that have best managed through the economic volatility that began in 2008. Most navigated the global credit crunch with little to no debt on their balance sheets. On average, the companies on the list have a 13% debt-to-equity ratio, and 67 of these companies carry no debt at all. "
