"BAL has announced commercial production of a niche product Polyvinyl Pyrrolidone. (PVP K-30), under the brand name "BOLIDONE". Balaji Amines Ltd is known for its innovation to indigenously produce high-tech products and launching them as import substitutes. The Company has built it’s state-of-the-art facility to produce ‘Bolidone’ in Chincholi MIDC area in Solapur, spreaded in 40 acres land. The product PVP K-30 is an ingredient binder for granules & tablets, used in many pharmaceutical formulations. Presently the market for this product is ruled by ISP & BASF around the world apart from China. It is learned from the sources, that Balaji has an advantage of in-house raw-materials right from GBL (GAMMA-BUTYROLACTONE), 2P (2-PYRROLIDONE), to PVPK-30. The capacity of the plant is around 1200 MT. per annum.

As of now India is a net importer for this product. According to sources Balaji will be in a position to export this product after catering the domestic requirement. When contacted the sources, it is informed, that the facilities created are meant for CGMP / EGMP / USFDA.

This is the 6th product in Balaji's basket in two years period, which has broken the
monopoly of global leaders like BASF & ISP in India like NMP, NEP, Morpholine,
2-P, GBL, PVPK-30. Till recent, all these products were imported to India which are
now being exported around the world.

This product may add around Rs. 500 Millions to the top line of Balaji. We from Chemical Weekly congratulate the Balaji Amines Ltd. for making India net exporter country from the importer country for these products and we wish them all the best."
