| Exchange Disseminated Time | With reference to the earlier announcement dated March 11, 2013 about the order of the Hon’ble Supreme Court directing Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkie to study the cumulative impact of the entire mining activities with mechanical means without blasting on the Chittorgarh Fort and to submit a report, Birla Corporation Ltd has now informed BSE that after considering the report submitted by CBRI as well as the reply filed by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the Hon’ble Supreme Court passed an interim order dated July 29, 2013 allowing mining operations beyond 2 kms from the Chittorgarh fort by using Heavy Earth Moving Machinery (HEMM). The working mining area of the Company is located at a distance of 4.5 km from Chittorgarh fort. Accordingly, pursuant to the said Order, mechanical mining of limestone has been commenced by the Chanderia Unit of the Company.
Further, as recommended by CBRI, proposal would be submitted to Hon’ble Supreme Court for long term study of the impact of full scale mining operations on the fort to be taken up independently. |
