"RPP Infra Projects, One of the Leading a Fast growing Semi Metro / Non Metro (Tier 2 city) Infrastructure company, engaged in the business of Infrastructure development of SEZ Projects, Water management & Irrigation Projects, Power Projects, Building and Townships, today announced that it has won a pilot project of Rs. 50 crore for building Housing for the Internally Displaced People (IDPs) in Sri Lanka. The company will build 1000 houses for IDPs in two packages in Mullaitheevu, Vavuniya, Jaffna, Kilinochchi a Mannar Districts in the northern and eastern provinces of Sri Lanka. The execution period defined for the project is 6 months.
The project awarded to RPP has been funded by the Government of India through the Ministry of External Affairs and the execution of the project will be done by Hindustan Pre-Fab Ltd (HPL), a Government of India subsidiary. RPP through this project will further strengthen in expertise Building and Townships. The company is successfully executing projects like NTEL Township Project in Chennai & Mass housing Project in Republic of Gabon.
Commenting on the project bagged, Mr. Arul Sundaram, Chairman and Managing Director of R.P.P. Infra Projects Ltd said, "After winning the Gabon Housing Project, we are please to say we are carrying out our social and humanitarian projects in Sri Lanka where in the Government of India has planned to build 50000 houses of the IDPs. As RPP Infra has already executing projects in Sri Lanka, this project would help us in putting a strong hold in Sri Lanka. We are now confident in becoming a global infra player from a rural / semi urban infra player" he added.
With the winning of this project, the Company's Order Book position is at Rs.2,250 Crore as of 23/04/2011.
R.P.P. Infra Projects has successfully completed more that 200 civil projects mainly in states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It has also forayed in to Sri Lanka for railway project and Republic of Gabon for mass housing project.
