| Exchange Disseminated Time | The Exchange had sought clarification from Gulf Oil Corporation Ltd with respect to news article appearing in Mint on February 24, 2015 titled "Explosion at Gulf Oil unit kills two."
Gulf Oil Corporation Ltd replied stating, "Pursuant to Clause 36 of the Standard Listing Agreement and the other applicable provisions, we hereby inform you as follows:
We regret to inform that an accident took place at our Hyderabad Factory yesterday (on 23th February) at around 3.45 pm when obsolete detonators were being readied for destruction as per approval in the designated area. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
The accident resulted in the unfortunate death of 2 (two) workmen and 13 others being injured. The injured workmen have been immediately admitted to corporate hospitals for treatment.
The operations of the Hyderabad factory, however, are not affected by the incident as none of the buildings and storage magazines have been damaged.
In this context we would also like to mention that the Lubricants Division which was part of the Company till last year, was demerged and transferred to Gulf Oil Lubricants India Limited, effective from April 01, 2014." |
