SEBI vide circular no. SEBI/HO/IMD/IMD-PoD-1/P/CIR/2023/86 dated June 13, 2023, had prescribed the regulatory framework for EOP segment to facilitate transactions in direct plans of schemes of Mutual Funds.
As per the SEBI circular, entities providing such execution-only services to investors in direct plans of Mutual Fund schemes through their technology/digital platforms, are required to obtain registration as stockbroker in terms of SEBI (Stockbrokers) Regulations, 1992 under the EOP segment of the stock exchanges. Accordingly, SEBI has amended and notified the SEBI (Stockbrokers) Regulations, 1992 on January 17, 2023, for recognizing stockbroker registered on the EOP segment of the stock exchanges.
The existing Members of the Exchange and new entities who are body corporates can only apply for membership in EOP segment through BEFS and OMRS interface respectively. Details relating to admission in respect of EOP segment is as follows:
